Situation in Poland is not good. We had warm December and January, buds on bushes of bluueberry are really big, in some places they are pierced. There wouldn’t be a problem if the temperature was soft. Unfortunately the end of February brings cold wind from Scandinavia and Russia.
It’s a powerful high, which at day brings sunny weather but at nights cold temperature. February 22, there is no snow cover, the sun heats plants and soil, at night the temperature falls drastically. Forecasts at 25.26 or 27 February are even worse. The temperature can reach in many places -20 degrees, locally at the ground you can expect -25.
This weather can have a big impact on the yield of blueberries. The optimistic scenario is the loss of part of the flower buds, which may reduce the yield in 2018. The pessimistic scenario is the essay of some bushes, and in extreme cases, entire lodgings. There is still hope that the losses will not be big and they will not be felt by both producers of blueberries and recipients abroad.
